Festa, a native Californian, began his sensitivity training before his birth, when an extra wash of estrogen passed over his brain in his mother’s womb. He received formal training and a BFA in drawing and painting from Cal State University Long Beach, and a MFA degree from Claremont Graduate University in 2011. Hungering under the belief of art as a fanatical expression of love, which can be measured only by the extravagance of its visions, Festa spends his time cultivating an art technology aimed to transform the human heart. His practice has been described as: “a more intelligent Jason Rhoades”, by former faculty, and “magic” by close friends and acquaintances. David Festa is proficient in Tiger and Crane Technique, and sees himself as a direct descendant of the pictures generation.
